At the Eastbay Bulldogs our club values are the following:
Developing fundamental basketball skills
Teaching players how these are transferable skills into your personal and professional life
Developing a resilient mindset to overcome challenges in life
This can be the details folks can click into:
1. Develop Fundamental Skills: We stress skills that are required to play at the High School level and above. We teach kids how to dribble, pass and shoot. We also teach them how to apply these skills in a team context. It is critical to learn how to move without the ball and learn when and where to use specific moves. We also teach man to man defense. Players must learn to be great on and off ball defenders in a team context to play at the next level.
2. Transferable Skills: Setting goals is an important part of basketball, whether it’s improving your shooting, increasing your speed, or developing your off hand. Learning to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals (SMART goals) can help you achieve success not only in basketball, but also in your personal and professional life.
3. Basketball is a challenging sport that requires resilience and the ability to bounce back from setbacks. Developing a resilient mindset can help you overcome obstacles and persevere in the face of adversity, whether it’s in basketball, academics, or your career.
